Positive first-year results for ITN – Italian Taxi Network: 66 Italian cities connected, 7.300 drivers in the network

A network of 7,300 taxi drivers across 66 Italian cities, with more than 4 million rides completed, generating a total turnover of €45 million, and approximately 122,000 active users per month. These are the figures reported by ITN – Italian Taxi Network, the first technological alliance between Italy’s leading taxi apps, which is celebrating its first year of activity.

The results, future expansion plans and new development strategies were discussed during the network’s annual assembly held on Saturday, June 6, in Milan.

Founded through the collaboration of appTaxi, BTaxi and TaxiMove, the network recently welcomed Your Taxi, the platform representing taxi professionals in Genoa and the main destinations along the Ligurian coast. ITN’s primary goal is to simplify the customer experience: thanks to roaming technology, residents and tourists can travel in a growing number of cities using their preferred taxi app, without having to download new applications, create additional accounts or learn how to use different interfaces.

Among the benefits are easier access to taxi services, the possibility of paying by credit card, and the guarantee that ride requests receive the same priority regardless of which app the customer uses.

The project was born from a strong spirit of cooperation among the leading players in the Italian taxi industry and has grown thanks to collaboration between drivers and platforms that are owned and managed by taxi drivers themselves — a distinctive feature of the network. The aim is to combine entrepreneurial vision with respect for professional work, overcoming fragmentation within the sector while fostering innovation.

During ITN’s first year, the network recorded an increase of 450,000 rides, generating an additional €5 million in revenue. The service was also extended to ten new cities: Albisola, Ancona, Bassano del Grappa, Gallarate, Genoa, La Spezia, Massa Lubrense, Monfalcone, Sanremo and Savona.

More than one million new users joined the platform, adding to the two million already registered a year ago. The user base is predominantly Italian (63%), but also includes a significant international component from the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain and France, confirming the service’s strong appeal among tourists.

The typical ITN user is dynamic and travel-oriented, with tourism and mobility among their main interests. The customer base is evenly distributed across genders — 42% women and 41% men — and spans all age groups, from younger users (14.3% aged 18–24 and 27.3% aged 25–34) to older generations.

“Just one year after its launch, this alliance has become a benchmark in Italy,” said Stefano Salzani (President of appTaxi), Riccardo Carboni (President of BTaxi), Claudio Giudici (President of TaxiMove) and Valter Centanaro (President of Radio Taxi Genova – Your Taxi).

“It represents a model of cooperation among mobility-sector cooperatives that enhances professional autonomy, service quality, and economic and social sustainability. It is a strong and independent alliance, capable of addressing tomorrow’s challenges, built on shared values such as dignity of work, mutual cooperation and independence from the major multinational platforms. The future of taxi services must remain in the hands of taxi drivers.”

The four presidents also stressed that “ITN is an open network, committed to expanding further by welcoming new cities, additional drivers and other taxi applications that share the same vision of innovation and service quality”.

For this reason, the Italian network also contributed to the creation of TaxiForce, the first European alliance connecting taxi apps from Italy, Spain and Portugal.

Launched in October 2025, this international partnership pursues similar goals and aims to provide a safe, seamless and consistent cross-border taxi service while fully respecting local regulations and regulated fare systems. TaxiForce is therefore the natural evolution of the path first started in Italy with ITN, extending that model onto a European scale.

Today, the service in Spain includes 18,000 taxi drivers and is active, or in the process of becoming active, in 11 cities and regions: Alicante, Almería, Asturias, Cádiz, Cantabria, Córdoba, Madrid, Jaén, Seville, Toledo and Valencia. Expansion into Portugal is expected shortly.

Today, Italian Taxi Network (ITN) operates in 66 cities and destinations across Italy, from north to south, including Aosta; Bergamo, Brescia, Milan, Monza and Varese in Lombardy; Venice, Verona, Padua and Vicenza in Veneto; Genoa, La Spezia, Sanremo and Savona in Liguria; Bologna, Modena, Reggio Emilia and Rimini in Emilia-Romagna; Florence, Pisa, Siena, Livorno, Lucca, Empoli and Viareggio in Tuscany; Ancona in the Marche region; Rome and Latina in Lazio; Naples, Sorrento and Massa Lubrense in Campania; Catania, Palermo, Ragusa and Syracuse in Sicily; and Cagliari and Olbia in Sardinia.
